Sims 2 application will now terminate
I am instilling Ultimate Edition from Origin itself. I tried moving the sims 2 folder and it did nothing but recreated itself with the same two folder of "teleport" and "log" and crashed yet again.
I am not using mods and haven't even gotten the game to actually start. Sounds like something didn't install right with the game itself. Uninstall the game and try reinstalling it. So, make sure the EA Games folder is deleted.
Once we get the game running the EA Games folder should generate itself upon the first time the game is started up. Thanks for the update! This may solve the problem, but I don't know how to obtain or install d3d9. It's getting so that I think I will give up playing any Sims games. It's old yet still relevant. I have the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. I've tried nothing so far except to come here for help. I saw this thread and have the same issue, so I thought it would be okay to resurrect it.
Well, I tried to repair the game and have no mods installed, so there wasn't much I thought I could do. It's version 2 found on SimNetwork. And also apply the 4GB patch as well. Those both seem to get rid of the DirectX error as that is mostly caused by the game not recognizing your newer graphics card.

DeterminedGirl posted I don't have open for business. This also happened before I ever backed up the game. I recently bought an external harddrive and now it is backed up. The problem is more likely ram. I only have 1gb and my old pc won't let me upgrade anymore. I think removing 2 or 3 eps will solve the problem.

The Jigglypuff has spoken. DeterminedGirl 13 years ago 6 Why do I have a funny feeling these problems happen when you back up the game? I've had a similar problem. My game kept freezing and crashing when I would try to enter any apartment lot so I contacted a game advisor. He told me to right-click on the Sims desktop icon, enter Compatibility tab and choose an operating system on which the game worked last time.
Then, he had me run Origin as admin and launch the game again. That seemed to work and I actually managed to play with a family from an apartment lot, until it crashed mid-game. I honestly don't know the reason. I'll be trying different compatibility options and running this-and-that as admin and see if it works. When I've exhausted all options I'll let you know how it went.
The only problem is, people keep mention the compatibility tab, which confuses me because I can't seem to find anything like that. The only option I see is Troubleshooter Compatibility, where you can choose the compatibility mode for different operating systems. Hopefully, that's the game advisor was talking about. OK, I've tried every compatibility option and running both the sims and origin as admin and had no luck. Each time I would get to the specific family's loading screen, I would hear the sound of that family as if it had finally loaded normally and then it would crash.
The farthest I got was actually being able to play the family, but every time my sim would pick the phone to call another sim, it would, of course, crash.
And I need that phone call for that sim. January Help us improve Answers HQ! Take Survey No, Thanks. Sign In or Register.
